Iran nuclear deal

Iran once again reiterates its demands to return to compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal. That’s according to two informed sources that notified Press TV of the conditions. According to the sources, the United States has to guarantee that foreign companies cooperate with the Islamic Republic following Washington’s rejoining of the agreement. Press TV analysts say Caatsa, Isa, Visa bans, dollar U-turn and section 311 of the Patriot Law are fundamental obstacles to Iran’s benefits under the JCPOA. Press TV analysts say among such obstacles are also a number of the US president’s executive orders that prohibit transactions with respect to Iran and block the assets of Iranian individuals, government and financial institutions. Press TV analysts also say failing to remove the sanctions, or a 120-day, or 180-day sanction waivers deprive Iran of benefits stipulated in the JCPOA.

WHO Europe warning

The World Health Organization warns European countries that a premature easing of coronavirus restrictions could cause cases to unleash "a perfect storm". The world body’s regional office for Europe noted that infection rates across the region remain extremely high. It also warned that the Covid-19 situation anywhere around the world can turn as dire as that in India. The South Asian country has seen a meteoric rise in the number of infections and fatalities over the past days. On Thursday, India logged nearly 380,000 new Covid-9 cases and more than 3,600 deaths. Both figures marked records since the pandemic started. The world’s second most populous nation is also facing a severe shortage of beds, medicines and oxygen.

Russia-Bulgaria diplomatic row

Russia says it will respond to the expulsion of one of its diplomats by Bulgaria over alleged involvement in explosion of arms depots. The expulsion came after Bulgarian prosecutors said on Wednesday that they suspected Russian involvement in four explosions between 2011 and 2020 at Bulgarian arms depots. At a meeting with the Russian ambassador, the Bulgarian foreign minister requested full Russian cooperation with its investigation of the blasts and attempts to poison Bulgarian arms trader, Emilian Gebrev. Moscow has dismissed the Bulgarian probe. This comes amid a series of diplomatic disputes between Moscow and European governments in the wake of Czech accusations that Russia was behind a similar blast in 2014.
